How do you find someone to serve legal papers?
Skip tracing for service of process means finding a person’s current address so legal papers can be served. Rexxfield investigators trace a person’s current address through public records, social media profiles, phone and email trails and online accounts. We check each address candidate against independent sources and deliver a report that shows where the information came from and when we collected it. We locate the person. Your process server or sheriff serves the papers.
Rexxfield is a cyber-investigations firm, not a law firm. Counsel decides what meets the court’s standard for service and for any diligence affidavit.

What we do
Skip tracing reports built for service of process
The same digital investigation methods we use on cybercrime cases apply to a defendant who left no forwarding address.
Current address candidates
We build the address history from public records and match it against recent online activity to identify where the person lives now.
Employer and business leads
A workplace or business address gives your process server a second place to attempt service and a way to confirm the residence.
Phone and email tracing
We connect phone numbers, email addresses and usernames to the person and to the places where they are used.
Social media and online accounts
We find active profiles and review public posts, photos and check-ins that place the person at a location.
Source verification
We check each address candidate against independent sources before it goes in the report.
Dated evidence
We save each source with the date we collected it, so counsel and the court can see where an address came from.
How it works
From case details to a usable address report
- Intake. You send the subject’s name, date of birth if known, last known address, case caption and any deadlines.
- Search. Our analysts search public records, social media, phone and email trails and online accounts.
- Verification. We check each address candidate against independent sources and discard those we cannot support.
- Report. You receive the addresses, the sources, the collection dates and saved copies of the evidence.

Skip tracing for service of process: FAQ
What is skip tracing for service of process?
Skip tracing is the process of finding a person who has moved or is avoiding contact. For service of process, it means locating a defendant, witness or judgment debtor so a process server or sheriff can deliver legal papers. Rexxfield investigators run the search and document the sources.
How do you find someone who is avoiding service?
We start with what counsel or the process server already has: the name, last known address, date of birth and any failed attempts. Our investigators then search public records, social media, phone and email trails and online accounts for signs of where the person lives or works now, and check each address candidate against independent sources before it goes in the report.
What does the locate report include?
The report lists each address candidate, the sources that support it, the date we collected each source, and saved copies of the underlying records or posts. It also notes employer and business leads where we find them. Your process server and counsel decide how to use it.
Do you serve the papers?
No. Rexxfield locates the person. Your process server, sheriff or other authorized server attempts service. We can update the report if an attempt fails and the person has moved again.
Will the report support a due diligence affidavit?
Process servers and counsel prepare diligence affidavits, and requirements differ by court. Our report documents the locate steps we took and the sources we used, so your affidavit can describe a real search. Counsel decides whether the search meets the court standard for alternative service.
Can you locate someone outside the United States?
Often we can identify the country and city from a person’s digital activity. A confirmed foreign address changes how service works, and counsel decides whether the Hague Service Convention or another method applies. We do not give legal advice on service rules.
